The Risk In Ordering Funeral Programs Online

Through the many years we have been in the death care industry, we have seen just about everything that could-go wrong, and did-go wrong. We’ve created this video to share some of the things that you may not be thinking of, or even aware of, as you plan to have your printed memorials ordered online and shipped.

Funerals are time sensitive, period. The importance of getting to their destination in a timely manner is critical.  There are courier related issues that happen with shipments that you should consider for any type of time sensitive online orders. Some of the issues we've personally seen are: Lost packages. Late or a misdelivered package. Damaged products upon arrival. The box being delivered with no contents. The package never leaving the local courier facility. And receiving an email from the courier saying your package has been delivered but in actuality, was not. In addition to these, there are things beyond the courier’s control such as plane and weather issues that could delay the package in transition.  These instances can be a nightmare when it comes to needing them in time for a funeral or memorial service.

With all this being said, one could shy away from ordering online altogether. Going through the process and then not receiving the printed memorials on time, can add much undue stress!  It is important however, to take safeguards and all of these into consideration, even though there is only a possibility of it happening. 

Some safeguards to take into account is to ensure enough time for production with the creation design process, proofing, printing, assembly, and shipping transit times, prior to the required needed date. We recommend receiving your printed memorials 2-3 days before your actual service date. The extra days gives a little cushion to potential shipping, plane or weather delays. Of course, not everyone has the luxury of having many days to create a funeral program or other printed memorials. If this is your situation, print it locally, or work with a company within your area and make sure to discuss timeframe and the turnaround for their services.

Remember to plan ahead and the keep in mind the potential issues that can arise during shipment. This can help you determine which option will be best for your timeframe. Sometimes you may find better pricing online than at your local printer, but it may not be worth the risk of the possible issues that could arise.
