I can't edit my template.

If you are not able to EDIT any part of your template, then chances are it opened up in a "Preview" application instead of the software you will use to edit it in. Right click on the template icon and choose OPEN WITH...and then select Word, Publisher, or Apple Pages whichever one your going to use to edit. This will force the template to open in that software instead of the default. 

Alternatively you can also open up the software you want to use and then do a FILE>OPEN to open up the template in that specific software.
